Jarred gave us our mission

Save all the animals.

Jarred & Ruby’s Pet Project was built on Jarred’s love of rescuing animals. At 2 ½ years old Jarred was diagnosed with stage 4 hepatoblastoma and given only a 5% chance of survival. After 3 hospitals, each in a different state, 70% resection of his liver, autologous bone marrow transplant, 5 thoracotomies, full lung radiation and a lobectomy, he was cured. Jarred overcame all obstacles both physically and emotionally. He lived his life with high energy, and the determination to never let the past dictate the future. Jarred exceeded every expectation of any doctor that met him. At age 18, just after high school graduation, Jarred was diagnosed with ALL leukemia and continued to beat and relapse for the next 10 years.

Through all of the hardship that Jarred faced with his illness, he never allowed it to slow down his thirst for life and adventure. While Jarred and his family had more than 7 rescue dogs, after moving out on his own he had felt that something was missing. In November of 2017, Jarred adopted his best pal Ruby and their bond sparked the dream of one day opening a rescue ranch. He had a passion for all animals and dreamed of rescuing every dog in need. Jarred always put the care of his animals above his own and hoped to someday have a farm filled with rescues.

In July of 2018, Jarred passed away at the age of 27. Jarred’s family and supporters are committed to continuing his legacy through Jarred & Ruby’s Pet Project, with the mission to place stray, neglected and homeless dogs into the home of a loving owner(s) who will care and provide for them. We work closely with local rescue groups and shelters in order to support animal welfare throughout central Florida.
